Oh. My. Goodness. From the second Lumen walked into the studio, it felt like she had time-traveled straight out of a Bridgerton ball—graceful, poised, and absolutely enchanting. Her fine art session was something her mom and I had been totally giddy about for months. As fellow Bridgerton superfans, we knew this shoot had to be more than just pretty—it needed to feel like stepping into a romantic, dreamy scene straight from the ton. And let me tell you, Lumen did NOT disappoint! As Queen Charlotte so perfectly put it, “If you desire the sun and the moon, all you have to do is go out and shoot at the sky.” Well, we did just that, and wow—pure magic.
Lumen is an absolute dream to photograph. She radiates kindness in a way that just shines through the lens, and she carries this quiet confidence that makes every single pose feel effortless. There’s something so classic about her beauty—soft, delicate, timeless. Every glance, every movement was straight out of a period drama, and I swear Lady Danbury herself would have declared, “Do not tell me that was not the most remarkable thing you have ever seen!” Because it totally was.

The Art of Crafting a Fine Art Portrait
So, what exactly is a fine art portrait? It’s way more than just a pretty picture—it’s storytelling, composition, and artistry all wrapped into one. Every single detail matters. The light, the colors, the wardrobe, the pose—each element has to work together in perfect harmony. For Lumen’s session, I used soft, directional lighting to create that dreamy, painterly feel, just like those stunning old oil paintings. Light and shadows played together beautifully, giving her portraits this depth and richness that felt straight out of history.
More Than a Photographer, an Artist
Fine art photography is about so much more than pressing a button on a camera—it’s about vision, storytelling, and creating something that feels timeless. If you’ve ever wondered what it means to work with an artist who creates beyond the photograph, I wrote all about it here. My goal is always to craft portraits that feel like they belong in a frame on the wall, not just in a digital gallery. Lumen’s session is the perfect example of this—her portraits don’t just capture how she looks, but who she is.

The Power of Color Harmony
Color harmony is EVERYTHING in fine art photography. For Lumen’s session, we picked wardrobe and backdrop tones that totally complemented her natural beauty while keeping that rich, romantic Regency-era feel. Soft neutrals mixed with deeper jewel tones..those GREENS? Yes, please! The final portraits turned out so elegant and cohesive—like they belonged in an actual Bridgerton palace.
Color sets the mood in such a powerful way. Warm golds and deep blues bring that regal touch, while blush pinks and soft ivories add just the right amount of grace and femininity. Every little detail—from the fabric in her gown to the dreamy floral accents in the background—was chosen to transport us all into another world. As the ever-wise Penelope Featherington said, “A life that lacks excitement is no life at all.” And let me tell you, this session was anything butordinary, and that makes my heart SO happy.

A Timeless Legacy
Lumen’s fine art session wasn’t just a photoshoot—it was an experience, a piece of art, a love letter to the beauty of storytelling. Every single frame felt like a scene from a Regency romance, and I couldn’t be more in love with how it all came together. Her beauty, her kindness, her elegance—it all shined in a way that was simply breathtaking.
This session reminded me exactly why I adore fine art photography. It’s about more than just capturing a moment—it’s about creating something timeless, something magical, something that will be cherished forever. Lumen embodied that Bridgerton spirit so perfectly, and I feel so lucky to have captured this enchanting chapter of her story. As Lady Whistledown would say, “If there is a scandal, I shall uncover it.” And let’s be real—the only scandal here is how unbelievably stunning Lumen’s portraits turned out!
